SNGPL crush Peshawar by 10-wickets in Quaid Cricket Trophy

PESHAWAR—Sui Northern Gas Pipe Line (SNGPL) crushed Peshawar by 10 wickets on the third day of the four-day Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Cricket Tournament played here at Arbab Niaz
Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
Having 140 runs on the first innings, SNGPL restricted Peshawar to 154 runs all out in the 40.2 overs with right-arm medium fast bowler Imran Ali led the way by claiming five wickets for 78 runs in his 18 overs.
Thus it reached to chase the low 14 runs target in their second innings to win the match. SNGPL won the toss and asked Peshawar to bat first. Peshawar in their first innings setup 158
runs total with Fawad (24) and Gohar (37) were the leading contributors, none of the batsmen could stand in front of SNGPL bowlers on the grassing track which helping the seam bowlers.
For SNGPL Tauqeer was the leading bowler who took four wickets, Imran, Asad got two wickets each and Hafeez got one wicket. SNGPL struggled hard before being rescued by tail-ender Khurram Shahzad, who hammered a cracking 166 runs. His cracking century on key occasion masterminded the team victory. Faisal added 39 and Adnan (23) were the leading scorers.
For Peshawar Nouman Habib, Imran Khan and Muhammad Fayyaz took three wickets each while Bilal got one wicket.
Taking 140 runs lead over first innings, SNGPL were in great command against Peshawar and thus they put up more pressure on the tottering Peshawar batting.
Peshawar batsmen were restricted to only 154 runs in their second innings in which only Fawad Ali (53) off 78 balls with nine boundaries, Sajjad Akhtar (23), Akbar Badshah (26), Bilal Khan (20) were the leading runs contributors. After bowling out for 154 runs, it gave SNGPL to chase a low runs target of 14 runs only which they chased for no loss in 4.5 overs. Umar struck unbeaten 13 and Yasir Arafat scored not out 4 runs.
