Minister urges opposition to quit politics of confrontation
By Hina Kiyani

ISLAMABAD—Minister for Communication Barrister Habibur Rehman Wednesday asked the political parties to sit together and find out an amicable way forward towards democracy rather than indulging in the practice of confrontation and violence.
He said the caretaker government is a temporary set up with the defined objective of holding free and fair election and continuation of development activities in country.
The opposition inspite of leveling baseless allegation about the rigging of polls should come up with a positive approach to mend the fences, he said. He said a number of initiative have been taken by the Election Commission of Pakistan to ensure free and fair election.
The Minister said that country is passing through a sensitive period and all the members of civil society belonging to any field of life are responsible for it. “We should realize our responsibility as a nation and come out with firm resolve to put the country on right path”, the Minister said.
He said there will be local and foreign observers , there will be polling agents of all the candidates, there will be media persons adding how it would be possible for anyone to rig the polls.
The Minister said that manifest approach of the opposition parties indicates that rather they want to escape the process due to fear of defeat or they want to create anarchy in the country.
He said the government was bold enough to introduce National Reconciliation Ordinance on the request of a major political party (PPPP) to provide level playing field to all the stakeholder in election adding but unfortunately the PPPP leadership was not behaving positively.
He said following promulgation of NRO there was no justification with the PPPP to adopt the path of agitation and confrontation.
The Minister said that opposition was earlier demanding the President to remove uniform. Now when he is almost set to quit the office of Army Chief they have a lot of other objections.
