Expansion project of Bagh hospital inaugurated

ISLAMABAD—Deputy Chairman Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation
Authority (ERRA) Lt. Gen. Nadeem Ahmed on Wednesday inaugurated
expansion project of DHQ Hospital Bagh in Azad Jammu and
Kashmir.Speaking on the occasion he said the hospital’s initial capacity
has been extended from the existing sixty beds.
“To provide latest health facilities in the hospital, forty more beds
have been added which also raised awareness among the ailing community
as the number of visiting patients have increased,” he added.
Nadeem Ahmed expressed the hope that with its expansion, the gap between
number of visiting patients and provision of health facilities would be
overcome.
Giving further details, he said additional forty-bed facility comprised
two wards, besides, five OPD centers, dental clinic, laboratory,
pharmacy and waiting place.
He said there was paucity of health facilities in almost all the areas
in the post-quake phase, but now the existing health facilities are at
par with all the big cities.
“With these facilities, a sharp decline in the ratio of child mortality
has been recorded,” he added.
Deputy Chairman ERRA also lauded efforts of international community and
said that WHO and Kuwait government played important role in the
expansion project.
He expressed the resolve that provision of latest health facilities was
the top priority of ERRA.
He also recalled the damages incurred upon the health infrastructure of
AJK during deadly earthquake.
AJK Minister for Health Dr Muhammad Najib was also present on the
