By Ali Imran

ISLAMABAD—Former presidential candidate Justice (Retd) Wajih ud Din Ahmad has said Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is still chief justice of Supreme Court (SC) adding the judges who have not taken oath under Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO) are heroes of the nation.
Justice (Retd) Wajih ud Din said this while talking to journalists on Wednesday outside judges colony. "We wanted to meet those judges who had refused to take oath under PCO on November, 3. " They are our heroes", he added. Government was persistently claiming the judges were free and interior ministry spokesman had also told in his press conference that all judges were free, he said adding " in the light of these announcements we wanted to meet these judges but curfew like situation was still prevailing in the Judges Colony.
The rulers were enacting drama of holding general elections, he alleged. It is still beyond our comprehension, he added. Election Commission had fixed the date from November 21 to 25 for filing nomination papers while two weeks had been fixed for scrutiny of the papers. Several political parties had not evolved any electoral strategy so far then how will they become ready to contest elections, he questioned. All the political parties should boycott these dramatic elections, he appealed.
Elimination of independent judiciary was the real target of the incumbent rulers, he alleged. They had achieved this target, he added. "I am not taking part in the upcoming general elections nor I intend to do so, he said. Whichever party supports this electoral process, it will be deemed to have come forward to give constitutional protection to this step, he underlined.
