Police uses force against lawyers

ISLAMABAD—Police used brutal force against lawyers who took out protest rally for the restoration of constitution and of the independence of judiciary on Wednesday.
According to learnt information, lawyers got together at Islamabad Courts and chanted intense anti-Musharraf slogans. The protestors denounced the abeyance of the constitution and the removal of independent-minded judges. Moreover, they announced to march towards the residence of removed Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
On this development, federal police cordoned off the protest rally and actualized force to disperse the enraged lawyers.
During this face off, several lawyers got injured. Additionally, police also incarcerated noted lawyer Athar Minallah. Besides, Secretariate police beefed up security on all avenues leading to the residence of removed CJ Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.—Agencies
