SPI registers decrease in kitchen items’ prices

ISLAMABAD—The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for week ended on November
15 for lowest income group up to Rs 3,000 has registered 0.06 per cent
decrease over the previous week.
The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was
recorded at 169.86 as against 169.97 registered in the previous week,
according to Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).
The weekly SPI has been computed with base 2000-2001=100 covering 17
urban centres and 53 essential items for all income groups and combined.
The SPI for the combined group registered decrease of 0.18 percent by
dipping from 164.27 in the previous week to 163.97 in the week under
review. During the week under review average prices of 9 items
registered decrease, while that of 19 items increased with the remaining
25 items’ prices remain unchanged.
The items, which recorded decrease in their average prices during the
week under review included, tomatoes, onions, potatoes, bananas, gur,
garlic, gram pulse washed, mash pulse washed and curd.
The items, which registered increase in their prices included, sugar,
mustard oil, vegetable ghee loose, washing soap nylon, bread plain mid
size, red chillies, rice irri-6, wheat average quality, coarse latha
material, firewood, chicken (farm), cooked beef plate, masoor pulse
washed, tea (prepared), egg hen (farm), LPG (11kg cylender), rice
basmati broken, moong pulse washed and wheat flour average quality.
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under
review included, beef, mutton, milk fresh liter, milk powdered (Nido),
vegetable gheen (tin), cooking oil (tin), salt powdered, tea packet,
cooked dal plate, cigarettes K-2, lawn material, voil printed material,
shirting material, sandal gents (Bata), sandal ladies (Bata), chappal
spng (Bata), kerosene liter, electricity bulb (60wats), match box, bath
soap Lifebuoy, gas charges up to 3.3719 MMBTU, electricity charges,
(1-100 unit), petrol liter, diesel liter, and telephone local call. |
