‘Capacity building of local education officials to ensure quality education’

ISLAMABAD—Ministry of Education is taking concrete steps to groom local education officers through building their capacity to ensure quality education at grassroots level, said Dr. Pervez Aslam Shami, Director General Academy of Educational Planning and Management, here on Monday.
He was addressing the inaugural session of a week-long workshop titled “Use and Analysis of Education Statistics”, being held by education ministry in collaboration with UNESCO Institute of Statistics(UIS) to build up capacity of district education mangers and computer personnel of selected districts, across the country, here.
The DG said ministry of education was committed to providing quality education and capacity building of district education mangers and computer personnel in these workshops was part of such efforts.
He said that the workshop would also help these local education officer to have strong coordination with all stakeholders in their respective districts to promote quality education.
He said the ministry had already trained 45 District Education Managers in its previous such workshops.
He said the workshop was being attended by 20 education mangers and computer personal of targeted districts, would help the participants to use and analysis education statistics for planning and decision- making.
Joint Education Advisor speaking on the occasion said the workshop would focus on the training needs of computer personnel to collect , compile and generate date required for planning, monitoring and evaluation of education system at district level.
He said during the workshop, the district education managers andcomputers personnel would also be given an opportunity to develop district profiles for education indicators of their respective districts.
