Speaker NA to perform duties as Acting President

ISLAMABAD—During visit of President Pervez Musharraf to Saudi Arabia starting from today (Tuesday), Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain would be the acting President.
According to the sources, Chairman Senate Muhammadmian Soomro cannot hold the slot of Acting President as he (Soomro) is at present caretaker Prime Minister of the country.
According to the constitution, the number of Speaker comes after Chairman Senate, therefore, Speaker National Assembly, Chaudhry Amir Hussain would be Acting President and he has been informed in this regard. It is pertinent to mention that President Pervez Musharraf, caretaker Prime Minister Muhammadmian Soomro, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Nisar Memon have dual offices and after assuming the responsibilities as Acting President, Chaudhry Amir Hussain would also be included in this list.—Online
