Tripartite Commission meets in Kabul today

ISLAMABAD—The 14th Tripartite Commission meeting between the Governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan and UNHCR will be held in Kabul today (Tuesday) under the chairmanship of the Afghan Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation.
Representatives of the respective Governments and UNHCR will meet for a regular review of policies and operations affecting Afghans in Pakistan.
The Afghan Deputy Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, Mr. Abdul Qadir Ahadi, is leading the Afghan delegation. The Pakistani delegation will be led by the Secretary of Pakistan’s Ministry of States and Frontier Regions Muhammad Jamil. Pakistan’s Chief and Provincial Commissioners for Afghan Refugees will also attend the meeting.
The UNHCR team will be led by Ms. Guenet Guebre-Christos and Mr. Salvatore Lombardo, the agency’s Representatives in Pakistan and Afghanistan respectively. Participants will take stock of Afghan refugees’ return from Pakistan this year and review ways to maintain the voluntary and sustainable repatriation process which assisted over 360,000 Afghans home in 2007.—Agencies
