Memon promises level-playing field to political parties

ISLAMABAD—Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator
Nisar A. Memon Sunday said that the interim government would provide
level-playing fields to all the political parties taking part in the
forthcoming general elections.
“The holding of fair, free and impartial elections in a secure
environment is our objective so as the voters could exercise their right
to franchise without any pressure. The national media would ensure equal
coverage to all political parties,” said the Minister while talking to a
10-member delegation from Northern Areas Legislative Assembly who called
on the Minister here at his office.

Ali led the delegation which also included members of NA legislative
assembly Noor-ul-Ain, Dr. Muzaffar Ali, Abdul Hamid, Abdul Quddoos,
Sikandar Ali, Ibrahim Sanai, Baghir Ahmad Khan, Dilshad Bana and Wazir
Irfan Ali.
The Minster further said that the interim government would take all
necessary initiatives to preserve the progress achieved during the past
eight years so as the national economy could further grow.
Hailing the steps of the federal government taken for empowerment of the
people of Northern Areas, the Minister said that the historic decision
by the government to write-off of the liabilities of the poor peasants
of the northern areas was another step towards fulfilling the promises
made to share the burden of the poor people of the area.
Terming the development package announced by the government as a
historic step, Senator Nisar Memon said that the Information Ministry
would soon launch new projects in the northern areas so as the people
from the remote areas could also benefit from the transmission of the
PTV and Radio Pakistan.
Felicitating the Minister over the new responsibility, Mir Ghazanfar Ali
said that the people of northern areas fully owned the Minister due to
the untiring efforts he had made for the prosperity and empowerment of
the people of northern areas. “Due to the development process, the
northern areas have become the most peaceful region of the state. We
pray for the success of the interim government,” he said. |
