203 killed in IHK road mishaps

ISLAMABAD—In occupied Kashmir, the alarming ratio of road accidents has claimed as many as 203 lives this year (up to October). The roads have been described as death traps and the Kashmiri people have asserted that the concerned department in the puppet administration has literally failed to enforce the law to ensure safe driving, KMS reported. Over speeding and reckless driving has been given the primary reasons for the alarming increase in roads. So far, in 2007 till October 1691 road accidents have occurred in the valley claiming the lives of 203 people and injuring 2444. In Srinagar alone, 393 traffic accidents have been recorded in this period resulting into the death of 35 people. The figures indicate alarming increase in road mishaps in comparison to 2006.
