Shujaat wants polls sans emergency

LAHORE—PML-Q president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said there is no need of emergency during the elections. “We will give proposal to the President General Pervez Musharraf that “ There is no need of emergency during the elections. Had we needed such crutches we could support the extension of assemblies tenure for one year and could retain chief minister ship of Punjab for one more year with us”, he said this while addressing a public meeting in Science college ground at Gujarat.
Mushahid Hussain Sayyed PML secretary general, Wajahat Hussain former MNA, Chaudhry Shafaat Hussain, district Nazim Gujarat and other PML leaders also attended the meeting. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain alleged Benazir Bhutto was trying to please her foreign masters by giving statements against Pakistan. “Some foreign envoys had told me Benazir was enjoying foreign support You are president of a moderate party, therefore, you both should go alongside each other. But I made it clear on them that moderation does not mean that we should keep ourselves away from Islam and Pakistan”, he told.—Agencies
There is lot of difference between voter and supporter, he said adding there can be some foreign supporters of Benazir but voters of the country are with us. Chaudhry Wajahat Hussain former MNA said “ we support emergency if it is imposed in the national interest. But it should be lifted when situation so demands. Earlier Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain inaugurated export display centre in Gujarat under Gujarat chambers of commerce and industries.
