Senate delegation leaves for Asian parliamentary assembly moot

ISLAMABAD—A three member Pakistan Senate delegation led by Mir Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali, Acting Chairman Senate has left for Iran to attend the annual plenary meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) being held in Tehran from November 17 to 21, 2007.
The invitation for participation in the General Assembly of Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) was extended to Chairman Senate by Speaker of the Iranian Majlis Dr. Gholam Ali Haddad Adel.
During its stay in Tehran, the delegation will attend the second meeting of the Executive Council of APA; APA Joint Conference with Foreign Ministers and the second Plenary of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly. The Assembly is likely to finalize the draft plans of actions on “Protecting and Respecting Cultural Diversity in Asia”; “Challenges and Opportunities of Globalization in Asia”; Alleviating Poverty in Asia”; “Combating Corruption”; “Friendship Pact of Asia”; Asian Integrated Energy Market”; and the “Draft Rules of Procedure of the Plenary of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly”. The delegation comprised Senators Rehmatullah Kakar and Abdul Khaliq Pirzada.
