Improved law & order vital for elections: Hamid

ISLAMABAD—Lt. Gen (retd) Hamid Nawaz Khan has assumed his responsibilities formally as caretaker Interior Minister on Saturday.
Chairing a high level meeting in the Interior Ministry, the caretaker Interior Minister has directed law enforcement agencies and police to enhance their efforts to maintain law and order situation and elimination of menace of terrorism in order to conduct peaceful elections.
Secretary Interior, Syed Kamal Shah has welcomed the caretaker Interior Minister and briefed him about the various projects of the Ministry and its attached departments.
Hamid Nawaz Khan while praising the performance of Ministry of Interior and Narcotics Control said that the policies formulated in the tenure of previous Government would be continued. He however emphasized the effective implementation of these policies.
The caretaker Interior Minister has urged the officers and staff to continue their hard work and dedicated efforts in pursuit of their official assignments.
Earlier, heads of attached departments of Ministry of Interior including Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), Capital Development Authority (CDA), National Police Bureau (NPB), National Police Academy (NPA), Civil Defence, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration, Islamabad Police, Directorate of Immigration and Passports and National Crisis Management (NCMC) also highlighted the projects and achievements of their respective departments.
