Modern technologies must for quality production

ISLAMABAD—Utilization of modern technologies was vital to minimize production cost and produce standard quality products to compete in the international market.
Speakers stated these views while at the inaugural ceremony of National Productivity Organization (NPO) at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) building.
They said that during the last eight years the economic indicators had been depicting positive trends, adding that Pakistan was now offering attractive and enabling investment incentives and opportunities to foreign investors and industrialists.
The NPO, like in other Asian countries, has been formed to improve quality of production to give boost to the country’s economy. They appreciated the initiatives taken for the institution building and for the training for capacity building.
They highlighted main features of the recent developments that NPO Board highlighted in the last meeting, particularly the concept of new “Productivity Vision 2012”. “This can be achieved by creating and enabling environment and introducing and implementing the programs to enhance productivity in various sectors”, the added.
While talking about the thrust areas for NPO, they said that most of the industries operating in the country lack innovation and creativity to cater to the customers’ demand. They underlined the need for establishing effective public-privatepartnerships to promote knowledge sharing and ensure transfer of success.
They said that NPO must be updated with the latest trends and technologies and stressed the need for adopting result-oriented approach. Among others, secretary MOIP&SI, Shahab Khawaja was also present on theoccasion.—APP
