Drive against measles in South Waziristan

WANA—Drive against measles is in progress with full swing in South Waziristan Agency and areas close to Pak-Afghan border and around 2,00,000 children up to the age of 13 would be vaccinate against the disease in the agency during the current campaign which will continue till November 28. Agency Surgeon South Waziristan Dr. Muhammad Nazir said this during his briefing at his office here on Saturday. South Waziristan being the biggest agency of Fata has long border with Afghanistan as its people werE more vulnerable to the disease from across the border. He said to overcome the spread of the disease, three hundred mobiles teams have been formed which will reach every door to administer the vaccination. He said, the response of the tribesmen was encouraging in this regard as they are cooperating with the health teams in their areas. The tribesmen, he said were now demanding full fledge campaign against Hepatitis B and C and approached the health authorities in the agency for launching vaccination in this regard in the agency.—Online
