Blast at PML (N) office

JHELUM—A gas explosion on Saturday damaged the four-room local office of Pakistan Muslim League (N) in the Sarai Alamgir, the police said. ASP Kharian Captain (R) Asad Chaudhry told APP that the explosion smashed the window panes and burnt the accessories in one of the room to ashes. The ASP said “ I had visited the scene of blast and remained there for three to four hours. It was not a terrorist act and was A gas explosion”. A worker Muhammad Zahid (25) was sleeping in the room where the blast occurred, however, he remained safe in the incident, he added. The Police Duty Office at Sarai Alamgir picket, Sub-Inspector Muhammad Ejaz said the blast occurred in the office of President Muslim League (N) District Gujrat Malik Muhammad Hanif Awan in the wee hours of Saturday when the gas engulfed the room and caught fire due to the short circuit. He said it was a gas explosion, however the inquiry has been started into the matter.—Agencies
