Tax defaulters asked to clear dues

RAWALPINDI—The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board has served notices on property tax defaulters in Cantonment Board Rawalpindi and Chaklala and decided to refer the cases of defaulters to magistrate in case of non clearance of their outstanding dues. It is noted that the Government has exempted five Marla houses situated in the jurisdiction of cantonment boards from payment of property tax and the notification in this regard has been issued recently.
The property owners of both the Cantonment areas after the announcement of exemption of taxes on five Marla house stopped paying property tax however the Cantonment Board has the stance that the decision regarding exemption of taxes would apply from the date when the notification issued. All the property tax defaulters have to pay their dues and these dues would not be written off in any case and strict action would be taken against those defaulters failed to clear their outstanding dues, officials of Cantonment Board said.
The public and social circles of the area opined that the people of the area cannot pay fee of birth and death certification, how can they pay their outstanding dues.—Agencies
