PPPP veteran
joins PML
MULTAN—A veteran PPPP leader, Khanzada Younis Raza Gillani, who had once
served as polling agent of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto,
ended his 40-year association with the party and joined PML along with
5000 supporters from his ‘Beraderi’ here Thursday. People raised slogans
in support of PML and distributed sweets as Younis Gillani announced to
join the PML at a ceremony in the presence of city district nazim Mian
Faisal Mukhtar, according to a press statement issued here on Thursday.
Gillani accused the local PPPP leadership of ignoring die-hard workers
and widening gap between the central leadership of the party and
workers. Mian Faisal Mukhtar said, the PPPP chairperson was pursuing
personal agenda while disregarding interests of the people. He said by
opposing Kalabagh dam, PPPP leadership was actually harming the
interests of the growers. Absence of additional water reservoirs means
high cost on electricity to discourage production and leave the people
in the jaws of price hike, he added.—Online
