Bus service
to link Quetta, Mashad
ISLAMABAD—Pakistan and Iran have agreed on the plying of buses between
Quetta and Mashad and vice versa.
To this effect, a meeting on the commencement of Bus Service from Quetta
to Mashad was held in Zahidan from 12-13 November 2007, says a press
release issued here on Wednesday.
Mr. Firdous Alam, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Communications led
Pakistani delegation and Mr. Alireza Mujarrad, Director General Terminal
and Transport Department of Seistan and Balochistan Province of Islamic
Republic of Iran headed Iranian delegation.
At the conclusion of the meeting both sides agreed on the plying of
buses between Quetta and Mashad and vice versa. A separate contract on a
‘Regular passengers transport service’ by road was signed between the
two bus operating companies namely M/s Beeta Safare Shargh passengers
companies from Iran and M/s Sada Bahar Company from Pakistan the bus
service will operate four days a week. It is expected that the service
could be extended to other cities of Islamic Republic of Iran and
Islamic Republic of Pakistan in near future.
The commencement of the bus service is in pursuance of the agreement on
Bilateral Transportation of Goods and the passengers of October 1992 and
MoU of April 15, 2007, between Islamic Republic of Iran and Islamic
Republic of Pakistan. The bus service will enhance the already existing
people to people contract between the two brotherly Islamic
