ISLAMABAD—Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri has urged both the government and opposition to work jointly for early lifting of emergency.
“ We will have to create such a situation for lifting emergency rule so that we could rid of it as soon as possible. The Minister said trade, sports links and people-to-people contact with India have improved. He said, “We have made a lot of progress but still there is the core issue of Jammu and Kashmir still to be resolved.”
He said there has been a lot of improvement due to efforts, extensive and useful work made at the Foreign Office level and at back-channel. He said, “I can say with confidence that so much work has been done, it will be easy for future government to pick up the pace from there to continue the process.”
The Minister said the trade between Pakistan and India has increased eight-fold from $200 million to $1.6 billion and both the countries have fixed the $10 billion bilateral trade target.
