Media
community to stage worldwide protests today
ISLAMABAD—On the call of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalist (PFUJ),
protest demonstrations will be staged across the world including
Pakistan today (Thursday).
According to information, media fraternity will hold protests and
present protest resolutions before Pakistani embassies throughout the
world. PFUJ also erected protest camp before Dawn News on Wednesday.
Hundreds of people from every walk of life joined the hands of media men
on this occasion. While addressing the protest rally, Rawalpindi
Islamabad Press Club President Mushtaq Minhas evinced that few generals
have created their monopoly over the entire military organization for
their vested interests.
Our struggle will not end till the time, we do not meet our set
objectives (the end of emergency and restoration of the independence of
judiciary)’, he contended. We stand to salute the judges, who refused to
take oath under PCO. Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Chaudhry is still our
CJ”, he further added. Hamid Mir, a renowned journalist, said that media
was not functional on the segregation of Pakistan in 1971. Every one
knows that only few generals were responsible for the dismemberment of
Pakistan in 1971.—Online
