ISLAMABAD—The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will install 1,000 security cameras in the federal capital mostly on VVIP routs, APP learnt here Wednesday.
The Authority has invited tenders from international and national firms for execution of the project which would cost around two billion rupees, a CDA official said.
He said the project concept-I (PC-I) of the project has been prepared under which the security cameras will be installed at 1,000 different points including VVIP routs, traffic signals, public places and markets. The total cost of the project is about two billion rupees, however, the Interior Ministry wants to reduce the estimated cost, the official said. The decision of the project has been taken by Interior Ministry after recent suicide attacks in the capital to monitor the vehicular movement and security in the metropolis, he added.
Under the project the consultant has proposed five sites for establishment of control rooms in different parts of the city to control the system and resolve the rising security problems, he said. The official source said that currently such security cameras were being used in Japan, USA, Germany, China, Abu Dahbi and Saudi Arabia. According to the source, the project also includes installation of computerised traffic signals to be controlled from one place.—Agencies
