Pak companies to display products at Paris exhibition
By Asad Cheema

ISLAMABAD—About 16 Pakistani companies have set up their stalls at the four-day MIDEST 2007 Show scheduled to open in Paris Tuesday, November 13.
The companies are participating in the show under the leadership of Engineering Development Board (EDB) with an aim to attract international market for the Pakistani products, official sources said Monday.
MIDEST, world’s leading industrial subcontracting show, is held in Paris every year since 1971. This will be Pakistan’s third consecutive participation in the show. In 2005 nine Pakistani companies participated in the show, while in 2006 fifteen companies took part in it, the sources said. Pakistani companies would display a lot of products including machined components, injection moulding, blow moulding, fabrication, sheet metal parts, low and high pressure compressors, aluminum castings, precision engineering components and assemblies and plastic parts for automobiles, and electronic products.
“Our participation in the show in the last two years has yielded positive results as it has helped a lot in developing government to government contacts and paving way for export of our products,” the sources said.
EDB, besides facilitating visa processing for Pakistani companies, had helped them select products for display at the show. EDB has also helped Pakistani companies to acquire land for their stalls at low rates.
In order to encourage foreign companies to invest in Pakistan, EDB has arranged a meeting with foreign delegates in Paris on November 14 in which Chairman Business Development Committee EDB Nabeel Hashmi would brief them about investment opportunities in Pakistan.
MIDEST is an outstanding source of information and forum for exchanges about the latest technical and industrial developments, bringing together numerous experts and specialists to offer conferences and workshops.
Nearly 2,000 exhibitors from some forty countries and around 48,000 visiting customers and subcontractors of 70 different nationalities will attend MIDEST 2007.
