4 killed in suicide blast at Muqam’s home

PESHAWAR—At least four persons were killed and five other injured including the brother of Federal Minister for Political Affairs, Engineer Amir Muqam as a result of suicide bomb explosion here at his residence in Hayatabad on Friday evening.
Private media reports said that a suicide bomber entered to the Federal Minister’s house. When the security personnel approached towards him, he blew himself up.
As a result, four security personnel were killed on the spot while five other including brother of Federal Minister suffered serious injuries. The injured were airlifted to the Hospital for treatment. However, Federal Minister and his family remained safe in the suicide attack.
Meanwhile, President General Pervez Musharraf, Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, Federal Minster for Information and broadcasting, Muhammad Ali Durrani have strongly condemned the suicide attack and expressed deep shock over the loss of precious lives. As soon as President and Prime Minister got about the incident, the contacted Amir Muqam and inquired about his and his family members health. Amir Muqam briefed both President and PM about the details of incident. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has expressed resolve to continue war against terrorism and extremism. He also directs for the state-of-art-health facilities for injured.
NWFP caretaker Chief Minister Shams ul Mulk has expressed his deep concern over the bomb blast at the residence of the Federal Minister for Political Affairs Amir Muqam at Hayatabad and termed the incident as an inhuman and a cowardice act.
He has directed the concerned authorities for early arrest of the culprits. Meanwhile the Chief Minister announced rupees one lakh for the heirs of each deceased, rupees fifty thousand each for the seriously injured and rupees twenty five thousand each for those with minor injuries. He has prayed to almighty Allah to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved families to bear the losses. He has prayed for early recovery of the injured persons and directed the health authorities to provide best treatment facilities to the injured.
Federal Minister for Political Affairs, Engineer Amir Muqam on Friday expressed that suicide attacks could not weak our will in war against terrorism and extremism. He has expressed all these views while talking to media men at his residence. “I was the target of suicide attacker”, he believed.
“I have a strong believe in Allah and every one has to die. So, such attacks cannot compel me to abandon my stance regarding war against terrorism and extremism”, he added.
A suicide bombing at the home of a Pakistan government minister in the northwestern city of Peshawar killed at least four people on Friday, police said. The minister was unhurt.
