Iftikhar says he is still CJ
ATTOCK KHURD—Deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad
Chaudhry on Friday declaring that he is still the Chief Justice said
that he salutes all those Judges who have not taken oath under illegal
and unconstitutional PCO.
“I am still the legal Chief Justice of Pakistan”,
Deposed Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry expressed
these views in a telephonic address to Journalists of Attock on Friday.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that
the treatment meted out to the Judges of the SC and HC after
Proclamation of Emergency is incompatible.
He said that we will continue our struggle for the Supremacy of
Judiciary.He further expressed his grave concern over the health of
Advocate Munir A Malik who is languishing in Attock Jail urging to shift
him immediately to PIMS. Pakistanis must unite and stand up for the
supremacy of the constitution, said the sacked Chief Justice of Pakistan
Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
Speaking to the BBC from virtual house arrest in Islamabad , he said an
independent judiciary was essential for democracy in Pakistan . Hundreds
of lawyers and other critics of President Pervez Musharraf have been
detained since he declared emergency rule on Saturday.
Pakistan’s top human rights campaigner has made a plea for their
