Numerous injured in police shelling at PPP protest

ISLAMABAD—Dozens of PPP Workers and members of the civil societies were injured as a result of police shelling, baton charge and scuffle between the security personnel and demonstrators amid protest demonstration in the front of the Parliament House against the emergency rule.
According to details, hundreds of PPP Workers and members of the civil societies staged protest demonstration against imposition of emergency.
The protest rally which started from PPP’s Central Secretariat and marched towards Parliament House by breaking all the obstacles in the way.
The participants of the rally were holding banners and placard inscribed with anti-government slogans. They also raised pitch slogans against PCO.
However, when participants of the rally tried to cross the barricade in order to move towards Parliament, the security personnel deployed there met them hard which resulted in scuffle and later on shelling and baton charging.
As a result dozens of PPP workers and civil societies members have been injured.
On the occasion, ARD Chairman Makhdoom Amin Fahim while talking to the journalists strongly condemned use of force on peaceful rally and called upon the immediate end of emergency rule.
He also urged the international community to play their role in this connection. He said that PPP would continue its struggle till restoration of the 1973 constitution and end of emergency.
PPP Central Secretary Information Sherry Rehman who was also present on the occasion also called upon the masses to come on roads.
