China welcomes Sudan to reaffirm peace agreement
BEIJING—China welcomed the
recent reaffirmation by the north and south of Sudan to implement the
Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) on Tuesday.
“China appreciates the north and south for their consideration of the
national unity and reconciliation to resolve the difference through
dialogue and consultation so as to safeguard the hard-earned peaceful
result and promote the peace process,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry
spokesman Liu Jianchao.
He told a regular press conference that China was happy to see the north
and south of Sudan to reaffirm their implementation of the CPA and
declare to establish a joint committee to ensure mechanism and timetable
to solve the unsettled problems.
The CPA, signed in 2005, ended a 21-year civil war between north and
south Sudan.
