No troops cut along Indian border: ISPR

ISLAMABAD/NEW DELHI—Director General Inter Service Public Relations Maj. Gen. Waheed Arshad has categorically stated that Pakistan has not reduced troops from its border with India due to security reason in tribal areas and internal situation of the country. The Indian express in its report had mentioned for the first time in 60 years, Pakistan has considerably reduced the number of troops along the heavily guarded border with India.
The report of Indian daily in this respect that Pakistan has pulled tens of thousands of troops from its border with India is totally baseless and unfounded, he said this while talking to Online on Wednesday. Commenting on report of Indian newspaper “Indian Express”, the army spokesman said, the country deploys rangers at International border instead of army during peacetime while border security forces are deployed from Indian side at its border.
No troops has been called back from line of control and no reduction has been made, he said, therefore the report of Indian daily is totally baseless. Indian Express had reported that the matter has come up in the Cabinet Committee on Security headed by the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh. Turmoil in Pakistan and unrest in its western areas, have resulted in Pakistani troops being pulled away in large numbers from the border areas adjoining Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat.—Agencies
