1520 kg adulterated chilies recovered

LAHORE—District Nazim Mian Amer Mehmood has directed concerned officials to take steps for effectively pursuing cases pending in courts against adulterators and those involved in preparation of substandard food items. He said it should be ensured that those involved in this illegal practice would not go unpunished. Meanwhile, during a meeting of city District Government , District officer (Food ) said Food squad conducted two raids and 1520kg of adulterated ground chilies seized. He said first raid was conducted at Zarar Shaheed Chowk near Jore bridge and 1400 kg adulterated ground chilies were recovered from a suzuki pick up No 1810. The injurious to health commodity was brought to Lahore from Faisalabad. The second raid was conducted at grocery store at Khuda Baksh road, Chowk Nonariyan and 120 kg adulterated chilies were recovered. The owner of the store was arrested. Police have registered cases and sent to courts for hearing.
