‘Sustainable rehabilitation of quake victims ERRA priority’

ISLAMABAD—Deputy Chairman Earthquake Relief and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed said on Tuesday that sustainable rehabilitation of the earthquake victims was top priority of the government.
This he said during a meeting with a delegation of Members of Legislative Assembly,Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The Deputy Chairman ERRA assured the delegation that ERRA would include two more water supply schemes for every constituency.
He asked the MLAs to identify one major link road in their respective constituencies which would be considered for reconstruction. He denied the rumours about shifting of AJK University and said that a world renowned consultant has been hired for the re-construction of the university.
Earlier, the public representatives of AJK briefed the deputy chairman ERRA about the issues which need to be addressed.The delegation elaborated the need for improving and widening the scope of water supply schemes so as to promote sustainable living for the affectees by enabling them to cultivate their lands and asked General Nadeem to increase number of water schemes.
They also asked the ERRA to construct more link roads as it will be helpful in their full rehabilitation.
