Police crack down against JUI leaders, many arrested

ISLAMABAD—The police and the Administration during crack down against leaders and office bearers of Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) have arrested a number of JUI leaders while several managed to escape. The police and the administration have also threatened to arrest the relatives of the JUI leaders and workers.
Nearly 600 Madaris of the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad have announced to hold shroud wearing demonstrations against the Government. According to the details, the police and the Administration on Monday and Tuesday conducted raids on the houses of President JUI Islamabad, Qari Sohail Ahmed Abbassi, Assistant Secretary Information, Mufti Ibrar-u-Rahim, Secretary General of JUI Punjab, Maulana Sanaullah Ghalib, Khateeb of Sector I-9 Mosque, Khateeb of I-9/1, Maulana Hamad Ullah, Khateeb of Masjid Aljawar in Bharkahu Maulana Saeed-u-Rehman, Secretary General JUI Islamabad Maulana Assad Ullah Abbas, Ameer Madrassa Ashat-ul-Quran Maulana Sher Muhammad and Khateeb Jamia Farmania Kohati Bazaar Maulana Abdul Hameed Hazarvi.
Most of the leader of JUI managed to escape but Amir Al Markaz Islami, Maulana Wali-ur-Rehman and Khateeb Rawalpindi Humak Town Masjid, Maulana Sanna Ullah were arrested. During raids and crackdowns a number of leaders and workers sustained severe injuries.
Talking to media men, Amir JUI District Islamabad, Qari Sohail Abbasi while condemning the crackdowns and raids demanded of the Government to announce holding of elections after lifting of the emergency. He warned that if their demands were not met then shroud wearing demonstrations would be held across the country.
Amir JUI Islamabad said that the Police and the Administration are threatening JUI leaders and workers to arrest their children and women.SHO Sabzi Mandi Police Station, Khalid Masood has lodged Civil FIR against responsible students. He along with the constables was patrolling on the Kashmir Highway when some 35 to 40 students of International Islamic University appeared on the Kashmir Highway and started chanting anti government slogans.
They blocked the road from both side and threaten vehicle’s owners to switch off their vehicles other they will burnt it. This strongly infused a sense of fear among the vehicles owners.—Online
