Struggle of against martial law not to be deterred: Rabbani

ISLAMABAD—Mian Raza Rabbani, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate condemning the brutal use of force by the functionaries of the state against the judges, politicians, lawyers, human right activists and journalists has said that people of Pakistan have always struggle against martial law and their struggle cannot be cowed down by state terrorism
Mr. Rabbani demanding the release of Aitzaz Ahsan, MNA and President of the Supreme Court Bar Association alongwith other lawyers who have been arrested be released immediately also condemned that after Mr. Aitzaz Ahsan's arrest his house in Lahore and Islamabad continued to be raided by the police with intent of harassing his family.
He also condemned the lathi charge and tear gassing on peaceful demonstration by lawyers and journalists throughout the country in particular the manner in which the Police attacked and entered in the premises of the Lahore High Court is deplored.
He also deplored the gagging of the print and electronic media.
"The raids on the office of Jang Karachi and Aaj TV are examples of intolerance of the regime. I assure the journalists the support of People's Party and other opposition in their struggle", he said.
If the regime is under the impression that by arresting activists and using naked state force it can crush the people of Pakistan, it is living in a fool's paradise. There was no justification and no grounds existed for the imposition of emergency and the suspension of the Constitution, which amounts to imposition of martial law, he said.—Online.
