PM lays foundation stone of bridge

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Monday vowed to further improve the communication infrastructure in the country saying the government has enough funds to carry out its development plans.Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of a Rs 1.1 billion Baba Farid Bridge over river Sutlej district Bahawalpur here at the PM Secretariat, he said roads and bridges were important for the development of an area. He said the government has undertaken unprecedented development activities across the country and provided roads, clean drinking water, schools, gas and other necessities of life to far flung areas. Shaukat Aziz urged the people to equip themselves with knowledge and skills to help put country on path to development and prosperity.“On our part we are doing whatever we can to bring economic prosperity in the country. But knowledge remains the base for a sustained economic growth and bringing about a change in people’s lives,” he added.—Agencies
