Cash awards for research papers in different fields

ISLAMABAD—Education Commission (HEC) has introduced a new programme for promoting research in various fields.
Under the programme, the achievements of Pakistani scholars in different fields would be honoured through a series of annual cash awards, said an official source here on Sunday.
He said that the HEC has sought applications from the scholars who have specialized in different fields. The cash awards will be given in different categories i.e. best research paper Rs.50,000, best young research scholar, Rs.100,000, best innovator Rs.150,000, best book publication Rs.300,000, lifetime academic achievement award 500,000. Moreover, he said, the awards would be given in different disciplines i.e. Bio Science, Management Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Social Sciences, Basic and Applied Science, and Humanities.
The applicants must be the citizens of Pakistan residing in the country and they the submissions must be based on original work in the relevant field of specialization by the applicant.
For those Pakistanis living abroad for the research purpose, the research work must have been initiated in Pakistan and at least 80 percent research should have been completed in the country. In the category of best book and best research paper, the research material must have been published in the year 2005 or 2006. November 30, is the last date for the submission of application forms which are available on the HEC website: www.hec.gov.pk/awards.—Agencies
