Aitezaz arrested

ISLAMABAD—Supreme Court of Pakistan Bar Association President Aitezaz Ahsan has been arrested under 3MPO and taken to Adiala Jail.
Commenting upon the issuance of new PCO, Chaudhry Aitezaz Ahsan said any civilized society could not tolerate the contempt of judiciary. On the occasion of his arrest, the lawyers that were present there raised slogans against the government.
Speaking on this occasion, Ch. Aitezaz said all this is being occasioned by one person, apparently alluding to President Musharraf, adding that the country is facing extreme crisis. Former president of Supreme Court Bar Association Hamid Khan has said that the steps of declaration of emergency and suspension of the constitution will be resisted with full force.
He said the Supreme Court’s seven judges’ bench’s decision to declare enforcement of emergency null and void is a historic judgment. He said declaration of emergency and setting aside the constitution were the result of bewilderment of the government.—Agencies
