NA body takes notice of irregularities in Water & Power Ministry

ISLAMABAD—Taking strict notice of financial irregularities in the Ministry of Water and Power and WAPDA in the tenure of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, the Special Committee of Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly has summoned Secretary Water and Electricity and Chairman WAPDA tomorrow (Monday) with all related records.
The two-day meeting of PAC Special Committee would be held with the Chairmanship of Riaz Fatyana.
The NA Public Accounts Committee directed the Secretary Water and Power and Chairman WAPDA to bring detailed report regarding the financial irregularities in the Water and Power Ministry and WAPDA.
The Auditor General of Pakistan would present the Audit Reports regarding the misuse of powers, power pilfering, fraud, irregularities and corruption and Special Audit Reports which would be scrutinized by the Committee.
The Chairman WAPDA and Secretary Water and Power would give briefing regarding the loadshedding and increasing electricity demand in the country. The Public Accounts Committee would also be apprised regarding the implementation of Power Projects under MNAs electricity scheme quota.
