Attique rules out shifting of AJK Capital

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan has said that the capital is not being shifted from Muzaffarabad but would be extended in phase wise with the consultation which is necessary after October 8, 2005 earthquake.
The AJK Prime Minister was talking to senior party workers of Muslim Conference Muzaffarabad, President Central Bar, Raja Sadaqat Hussain Advocate, member Bar Council Shahid Bihar Advocate, District President Muslim Conference Haji Zafar Ullah Khan and others who called on him in PM Secretariat here.
The Prime Minister said that the Government is providing land to families living in multi storey buildings per family, adding that the offices, residential colonies and commercial buildings which were in the most affected areas of red zone be constructed on better locations.
The AJK Prime Minister pointed out that the experts also suggested the shifting of District Headquarter from Muzaffarabad to 25 kilometer away in Ghari Dopata but the decision has been withdrawn due the efforts of incumbent AJK Government.
He said that the District Headquarter would be modern District Headquarter of Asia where all the offices would be located under one floor.
Commenting on protests by some elements, the AJK Prime Minister said that these elements want to disturb the peaceful environment of the territory and persuading on the policy of creating conflict among the districts of the capital.
He held responsible such element for creating hurdles in the way of establishment of Medical College and Hafeez Shaheed Naval Cadet College, adding that these elements boycotted the Assembly Session over awarding one additional seat to Muzaffarabad.
