US CENTCOM Chief meets President

ISLAMABAD—President Gen Pervez Musharraf has said that US assistance in elimination of terrorism from Pak tribal areas should remain confined to only intelligence sharing and technical assistance and only Pakistani forces would be allowed to conduct operation inside the country’s territory for elimination of terrorists elements.
He expressed these views while talking to Centcom chief Admiral William J Fallen who called on him at the Presidential camp office in Rawalpindi on Friday. Military sources told that matters pertaining to Pak-US relations, war against terror, situation in Afghanistan and military cooperation between Pakistan and the US.
President Musharraf during the meeting said that we would continue fighting war against terror with US and its allies despite the continuous challenges we are facing. He said we are paying a heavy price for being US ally in this war but we would continue our efforts to stamp out the root of terrorism. He said peace in Afghanistan is in the best interest of Pakistan as apeaceful Afghanistan paves way for stability in the region. He said that we should all play our individual roles for elimination of terror and extremism. He said that the process of blame game should end and confidence and trust should be built. President said that operation against terrorists and extremists elements in Swat is being continued and soon we would achieve in establishing peace there.—Agencies
