Pak, Jordan vow to cement ties

ISLAMABAD—Pakistan and Jordan on Thursday underlined the need for joint efforts to root out the menace of terrorism while urging the need to solve the problems faced by Muslim countries in an amicable manner.
They said cooperation was made during a one-on one meeting between President Musharraf and Jordan King Abdullah II here in Aiwan-e-Saddar on Thursday. Earlier, King Abdullah of Jordan was given a warm and cordial welcome on his arrival in Federal Capital. Federal Minister for Law and Justice Zahid Hamid received him, while children presented him with a colourful bouquet.
President Musharraf welcomed King Abdullah of Jordan at Aiwan-e-Saddar, Both the leaders held talks on host of issues including trade, economic relations and need to further strengthen relations. Both the leaders urged the need that co-ordinated efforts are required to solve the problems faced by Muslim Ummah besides strengthening OIC.
President highly acclaimed the efforts of Jordan King Abdullah II in his concerted efforts for durable solution to Palestine issue and lingering Middle East crisis. President stressed the need that Iran’s Nuclear issue must be solved through a process of meaningful dialogue adding that all the Members must keep the doors of negotiations open.
President said that usage of force would not be a right tactic in this regard. On the other hand, Jordan King Abdullah II said that Jordan shares good relations with Pakistan in all the fields.
He lauded the gigantic efforts of Pakistan for its efforts in wiping off the menace of terrorism and extremism. He underlined that joint efforts are required to root out the menace of terrorism.
Sources added that during the meeting both the leaders also threw light on several other bilateral issues including significant regional and international affairs in detail. President also hosted a luncheon in the honour of the Jordanian King
