Countrywide Anti-polio campaign ends

ISLAMABAD—The on-going three-day anti polio campaign concluded here on Thursday.
During the campaign 23 million children up to five years were vaccinated across the country. Sources told in this regard that millions of children mostly belonged to NWFP especially Swat besides the districts of South Punjab included Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Liyah were not vaccinated.
The main reason of this was law and order situation in Swat while inappropriate planning was the major cause in Southern Punjab, the sources disclosed. Sources further told in this regard that anti-polio campaign was launched in these areas after long time and parents of the children was not intimated in time. It is worth-mentioning here that one thousand six hundred polio cases were registered in which children belongs to Swat and Dera Ghazi Khan were also included.—Online
