By Adnan Rafique

ISLAMABAD—Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz is likely to inaugurate the newly constructed E-type flats for low paid federal government employees in Sector G-11 in first week of November. Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) has been constructing 1,100 flats for the low paid federal government employees in Sector G-11, Director General FGEHF Shahid Hameed told APP here Wednesday.
He said Capital Development Authority (CDA) had provided the Foundation extra land for the pilot project envisaging construction of 1,000 flats.
He said that in the first phase a total of 35 flats of E-category have been constructed which would likely be inaugurated by the Prime Minister during the first week of November while the construction work of the remaining flats would be completed by August 2008.
The availability of extra chunk of land has now raised the number of under construction flats in the sector from 1,000 to 1,196 including category C-, 700 sq.ft, category D-,900 sq.feet and category E-,1100 sq.feet.
To a question about the development funds for the sector Shahid informed that FGEHF acquired lands for construction of housing units but the development work was being done after the submission of installments by allottees of a specific sector.
To give pace to the development activity in this sector a new plan is tried, he added.
The D.G said “Besides, payments submitted by the alights, a total of 96 “C” type flats have been sold to CDA at a cost of Rs 165,60 million.”
He said the CDA would pay the amount through installments and devise criteria for handing over these units to its low paid employees on ownership basis.
The income generated from the sale of these flats would be helpful in fast-paced completion of the housing project, he added.
