Highly conducive environment for foreign investment: Japanese Envoy

ISLAMABAD—The Japanese Ambassador Seiji Kojima said on Wednesday that a highly conducive investment climate existed in Pakistan that had resulted in over US $ 6 billion foreign direct investment last year.
Presently over US $ 2 billion trade existed between Pakistan and Japan, he said this during meeting with Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Senator Tariq Azim Khan here on Wednesday.
The two discussed issues of mutual interest were discussed.
The Japanese Ambassador hoped that more Japanese companies would invest in Pakistan to further promote strong trade ties between the two countries.
Minister of State for Information Tariq Azim, appreciated the role of Japanese maritime self defence forces and recalled that only two days ago Japanese supply ship “TOKIWA” had refueled a Pakistani frigate PNS Tariq on the high seas as part of their cooperation support activities. The Japanese Ambassador informed the Minister that a new law had been tabled in the Japanese Parliament ‘Diet’ which would help Japanese Maritime self defense forces to continue supporting international community in its fight against terrorism.
