20,000 children saved from polio: Naseer

ISLAMABAD—Federal Health Minister Naseer Khan disclosed on Monday that around 20,000 children have been saved for becoming victims of polio during the countrywide anti-polio drive since last eight years.
He expressed these views on the occasion of distribution of polio free flags ceremony among the Nazims of polio free districts here in the Prime Minister Secretariat on Monday.
Naseer Khan said that present government has worked against the polio on priority basis. He also appreciated the role of aid agencies in this connection. While highlighting the data he said that approximately 32 million children below five years of age were administered polio vaccines. While around 20,000 children were saved from becoming victims of polio through effective drive, he said.
He also declared 80 percent of the district in the Pakistan as polio free. And it is become possible only through collective efforts of Lady Health Workers and Nazims. Secretary Health Kushnood Akhtar Lashari also addressed on the occasion.
