China fully satisfied at its relations with Pakistan: Envoy
ISLAMABAD—China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Luo Zhaohui, on Monday
stated that Pakistan China relations were based on confidence and mutual
interest and China was fully satisfied in its relations with Pakistan.
He expressed these views while speaking at a seminar entitled,
“China-Pakistan Relations” held at the Institute of Strategic Studies,
Islamabad on Monday.
The Ambassador of China emphasised that keeping in view rapidly changing
geo-political environment in the region and the globe at large, we need
to explore new ways of cooperation particularly in the economic sector.
He stated that Pakistan had helped China in breaking its isolation back
in the 1960s, rendered unconditional support to China on Tibetan issues,
Taiwan issue, Human rights. Chinese government and people will never
forget this support at all.
Ambassador stated that China was satisfied at Pakistan’s measures to
provide security to Chinese people working in Pakistan. The Ambassador
stated that Pakistan is China’s good neighbour, friend, partner and good
brother as well. Over the past 56 year since the establishment of our
diplomatic ties, Pak- China friendship has been strengthened with each
passing days. “In my opinion, four main pillars support this
relationship” the ambassador stated: They are
The first is political cooperation, the second is defence and security
cooperation, the third is the economic and trade cooperation and fourth
is promoting our friendship in the spirit of harmonious diplomacy and in
view of the ground reality of our current relations.
Ambassador stressed on Further promoting high-level exchanges between
our two countries, pushing our friendship to reach from one height to
another and expanding our economic and trade cooperation in a continuous
and extensive way making befitting with our political relations and
Putting more attention to implementation of our signed contracts and
projects, making our cooperation benefit Pakistani people and
Energetically promoting people-to-people contact, making it at a level
in proportion to our government-to-government relations.
Mr. Luo Zhaohui stated that China will follow the path of peaceful
development. This is a strategic choice the Chinese government and
people have made in the light of the development trend of the times and
our own fundamental interests. China is committed to continue the
interest of the Chinese people with the common interests of the people
of other counties. And always stand for fairness and justice. We
maintain that all countries, big or small strong or week rich or poor
are equal. We respect the right of the people of all countries to
independently choose their own development model.
Director General of the Institute of Strategic Studies, Dr Shireen M.
Mazari, stated at the occasion that the strategic nature of the
Pakistan-China relationship is well-established and is not an issue of
debate. Yet, it is a relationship that has evolved as the international,
regional and national environments have altered -and the non-static
nature of this relationship is one major reason why it has endured in a
substantive manner. The fact is that both states have sought to redefine
and constantly adjust the parameters of their strategic partnership to
the altering demands of their environments. This is also reflective of
the recognition by both the countries that the strategic nature of the
relationship needs to be sustained. Chairman of the ISS, Mr. Inam ul Haq,
a veteran diplomat of the country, also appreciated China’s support to
Pakistan in economic, political, diplomatic and military sectors.
Speaking at the occasion, the Director of China Study Center-first of
its nature in Pakistan-Mr. Fazal-ur-Rehman stated that ‘Pakistan-China
friendship is the only friendship that both countries define as an
all-weather friendship.” Mr Fazal emphasized upon the trade relations
between the two countries. He stated that Pakistan has offered to serve
