ITP special squads to ensure road discipline

ISLAMABAD—The Islamabad Capital Police has introduced a new strategy to reduce road accidents ratio and violations of the laws.
According to the new Plan, special squad will patrol the streets of the Federal Capital and they would keep a check to curb speeding, violations the traffic laws to ensure road discipline.
The ITP has slapped challans on 27,549 vehicles for over speeding while 74 vehicles were issued tickets for other violation. However, a plan has already been introduced to install speed-checking cameras on 40 different places in the Federal Capital.
During the last nine months about 25,549 vehicles were issued traffic violation tickets while the ITP had been educating the road users. The ITP also urged the people to abide by traffic rules and regulation to help government reduce accidents rates and ensure traffic discipline.
Briefing about the reason of introducing the special squads, SSP Zubari Hashmi told media men in order develop road sense and ensure the road safety the ITP had introduced the special squad, which will keep a vigil on road users to ensure discipline.—Online
