CDA okays eight projects worth Rs1.71b

ISLAMABAD—The CDA Development Working Party (CDADWP) on Saturday approved eight development projects costing over Rs 1.71 billion (1,716 million).
The Development Work Party of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), headed by Chairman Kamran Lashari, met here on Saturday.
The senior officials of civic and concerned officers from Ministry of Interior, Planning Commission and Finance Division also attended the meeting.
The meeting approved Rs 581.049 million for rehabilitation, dualization and construction of eight kilometres road from Taramari to Lehtrar. The portion of the road from Khanna Bridge to Taramari has already been constructed.
The authority would expand one side of the road from 18 to 24 feet and construct the second 24-feet wide side of the road. The project also includes two bridges. The meeting also okayed Rs 255.607 million for shifting of G-9 weekly bazaar to sector H-9/3, asking the CDA to reduce the cost and minimize unnecessary expenditures on the project.
The setting up of a 132-KV grid station in Sector I-16 at a cost of Rs 339.12 million was also approved. However, the CDA was directed to review reduction in the cost if possible by decreasing the number of vehicles to be purchased for the project. An amount of Rs 295.362 million was also approved for carrying out a feasibility study for change and improvement of water pipelines in Islamabad city and introduction of metered system for consumers. The meeting asked the CDA to include model town in the project.
The PC-1 for establishment of a diagnostic system in CDA Capital Hospital was also approved at a cost of Rs 45.829 million. The cost approved would be spent on raising infrastructure and amount to be incurred on import of machinery while the amount for purchase of machinery, which include MRI, CT scan machinery and other latest equipment, has also been allocated.
An amount of Rs 125.496 million would be spent on improvement and construction of Service Road North and remaining portion of Service Road East of E-11. The project of over three kilometres road would to provide access to Sector D-12. The meeting also approved non-agenda item of improvement of Margalla Road and Sector F-6 inter-section near Islamabad Zoo at a cost of Rs 45.528 million. Major part of the project has already been completed.
Capital Development Authority has changes names of several thoroughfares and Chowks in the federal capital.
According to an official notification, the metropolitan agency named the Service Road North in I-8 sector as Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Road, Service road West in I-8 as Qazi Mohammad Issa Road, Service Road East, I-8 as Haji Abdullah Haroon Road and H-11 East-West Road as Faqeer Eppie Road.
Similarly, Double Road in E-8 has been named as Lalak jan Shaheed road, Services Road Wes, H-8 as Sufi Tabassum road, Services Road North H-8 as Professor Ashfaq Ahmad Road, Services Road East H-8 as Jaffar Khan Jamali Road and Link Road near ADBP Farm as Lasbella Road.
Similarly, China Chowk has been renamed as Bolan Chowk, the Intersection of Faisal Avenue with Jinnah Avenue in G-8 as Shalimar Chowk, the Intersection of 7th Avenue with Jinnah Avenue in G-7 as Khyber Chowk and the Intersection of 9th Avenue with Jinnah Avenue in G-9 as Mehran Chowk.
