Govt gives priority to socio-economic uplift: Speaker

ISLAMABAD—Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain Sunday said
the government is giving priority to socio-economic uplift of the people
and huge funds are beingutilized for this purpose.
He was addressing inauguration ceremonies of gas supply projects in
Rahim Pur, Rai Pur and Nisar Pura areas of District Sialkot.
The Speaker said a number of initiatives have been taken tobring rural
areas at par with other developed areas that would enable them to play
their role in national uplift.
Amir Hussain said various gas supply schemes have been completed at the
cost of millions of rupees and work on ongoing projects are underway at
a faster pace.
“The government is committed to ending poverty and aftercompletion of
ongoing projects the poverty rate will furtherreduce,” he said.
The Speaker National Assembly said around 70 per cent of thepopulation
is living in the rural areas so it is imperative tobring them into
mainstream of the country.
The programmes initiated in the agriculture sector wouldhave far
reaching impacts on the rural economy and would help improve the living
standard of the people, he said. |
