Shujaat furious over PPP’s aggressive attitude
Staff Report
ISLAMABAD—The President of the ruling party, PML (Q), Chaudhry Shujaat
Hussain has expressed his impatience over Benazir’s continued aggressive
attitude.
While expressing his displeasure over the imprudent attitude of PPP-P
chairperson, Benazir Bhutto, in a private TV channel talk he vowed to
answer back in same coin in future.
He also refused to comment on Benazir’s recently coined term of
“political Madaris”, expressing great regrets and amazement, and
steadfastly denied about any delay in the next general elections. He
vowed to fight a decisive political battle against his PPP-P adversary,
with whom he is also contemplating a political alliance. He refused to
verify any finalized names of the caretaker setup, which he claimed
would only include non-political elements, having limited powers.
He also clarified that NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) has not
been Implemented for a particular political setup, and rather pertains
to all polity. But despite that, only Benazir (stands to) reap rewards
from its implementation.
He also expressed his chagrin at the filing of Benazir’s FIR against
Chaudhry Pervez Elahi, nominating him as a suspect for recent Karachi
blasts, and said that countless false cases had been registered against
them (Chaudhry clan) during earlier times. Replying to a question, he
said that Mian Nawaz Sharif cannot return without a “royal pardon”, and
assured that agencies would investigate the Karachi blasts, while no
foreign concern would be allowed to interfere, asking as to why wasn’t
the murder of Murtaza Bhutto also investigated by a foreign agency.
He also strongly refuted the rumors of his selection as a caretaker PM,
claiming to be an ordinary man who would rather contest general
elections. Information Minister Muhammad Ali Durrani has said Benazir
Bhutto is guiding terrorists by giving new targets to them through
irresponsible statements.
He said this while addressing oath taking ceremony of journalists
association of bureau and later talking to the journalists here Friday.
He held it was big achievement of government to face criticism after
giving freedom to the press. All the credit goes to President general
Pervez Musharraf on this count, he added. President Musharraf will put
in place such type of democracy after becoming civilian president that
no person in uniform again comes to power in future, he underlined.
He underscored country , media and politicians were facing biggest
challenge of terrorism. Terrorists play with the lives of innocent
people by considering their views immutable and infallible immutable.
Media and politicians should play their due role in war on terror
otherwise they would be the major target of the terrorists, he warned.
Government was taking slid steps to cub menace of terrorism, he said
adding Benazir Bhutto on the other hand was guiding the terrorists by
giving new targets to them through her irresponsible statements. It
seems as if she has come here to provide guidance to the terrorists
rather than PPP, he remarked.
