No concession given to reduce weight of Roti

ISLAMABAD—District Price Control Committee, Rawalpindi on Friday clarified that no concession has been given to anyone for reducing the weight of Roti while fixing the price and same rate is in vogue as was prior to Ramazan.
Contradicting a news report regarding roti price and weight, a spokesman of the Committee said it has wrongly been quoted that weight of the roti was reduced from 120 grams to 100 grams.
It may be noted that the weight of un-cooked bread (roti) was fixed as 120 grams and this restriction is still enforced. The weight on un-cooked bread was never a point of controversy with Nanbais and nobody has objected to the same or reduced the price of un-cooked bread.
However, the flour mills owners have voluntarily promised to reduce the rate of 85 kg fine flour to Rs.1600 for the Nanbais, he added.
He said the apprehension shown in the statement of Network for Consumer Protection is wrong and without substance. The network could have easily contacted in District Administration or Price Control Committee to clarify the position instead of releasing a statement through the press.—Agencies
